I know this is a site for kfx450's and thats what i am planning on purchasing :D , but i was wondering if anyone has heard about KTMs quad. I've heard rumors of Polaris still making the frame and body.Any knowledge of the KTM quad would be greatly appreciated.

THere's a topic on this somewhere in this forum. It's going to be solely KTM building the bike. THere aren't many other details floating around that I know of.

Thanks for the input............In my opinion, KTM and Polaris parting  is a good thing

KTM is still supplying engines for Polaris and Polaris is still sharing chassis and suspension design experience with KTM. HOWEVER...the KTM quad will be all KTM. Latest rumors (which really aren't that recent) were that there were exhaustive testing sessions going on in Spain, trying to get the suspension up to speed. You can bet that it's gonna be top notch, but you can also count on paying dearly for it. I wouldn't be surprised to see high 9s for it.

Yeah i was thinking at least 9, and thats outrageous for any atv, because most likely your going to spend 1-2 grand on it for after market stuff, it may also not need any after market stuff though

Yeah me too but i think the pictures are controlled by the company. just like the so called KFX spy photos that was IMO defiantly meant to be release and i would say kawi had a big part of the picture taking...... I mean how long does it take to unload a quad off a truck ramp........ but i may be wrong

I've got a pic of it somewhere. It's really small, and you can't really see much, but I'll find it and post it up.

Remember the Gas Gas quads were in the 9s and needed nothing. That's how they justified the price. But I'll bet KTM will ask 9s and you'll STILL need a pipe, chip, and at least a re-valve.

for the 520 quad it would make sense to use there 510cc motor, i wonder if theyll update it w/. f.inj,etc-i know theyll probably beef up the clutch. from what i hear-those are bad a-s motors. lets see some prototype pics already! seeing how they have the new 450sx and 505sx, they look very similar- only time will tell.

The way I see it, in the long run almost every KTM is a waist of money compared to the jap bikes. If you price out all of your maintenance and the time you waist waiting on parts when your dealer doesnt have them in stock(most dont) on top of the price of the bike/quad you could have spent less money and been just as fast on pretty much anything else from the big four. I worked for a KTM dealer for three years and I cant tell you how many people just end up giving up on them. They have a great product, and a decent way of doing business but the over all support is still know where near the level it needs to be IMO to charge more for their bikes then the japanese. I currently work for a polaris dealer and have had the opportunity to ride the KTM/polaris 525 outlaw and it is a complete beast and is actually priced very well(otd around 8k striaght retail) and I could have purchased one for around 7k but I still ended up spending 1k more to go to another dealer and get the kfx450 cause I really dont want to pay $10-12 a qt for oil and 10each for TWO oil filters and then have to special order almost everything if I need a part, not to mention that their hardware isnt usually metric or standard its in the middle(6.25mm bolts lol)... OK my ktm(same for atk) rant is over **takes deep breath**

I think we tend to forget about maintenance cost with some of the manufactures. Good Point.
