What's up everyone. Just introducing myself a bit, and I'm glad to be here. I used to race MX , flat-track, atv rodeos etc when I was younger during high school years (this was sometime shortly after the Civil War). Now I'm 47, an eye doctor with 3 kids and have had a moderately successful career as a songwriter as well. With a full plate of all this adult-ing going on, something kinda snapped and all of a sudden I wanted to get back to my roots and get into some MSXC (Mid South Cross Country) hare scramble racing and maybe even some GNCC events eventually. Started back with a bike... a YZ450. It was a great bike and a bit of a beast, and I was totally digging it until I had a really stupid accident going about 20mph in some tall grass. Hit a log buried in the grass I couldn't see and went over bars. Usually not a big deal, but landed on my hand wrong and dislocated a pinky and had to have a surgery to put it back etc. During my recovery time I decided that I might be better off, safer, and have more fun on a quad, so started researching them and pretty quickly zeroed in on the KFX (after briefly considering getting an old restored LT250r Quadracer like I used to have back in the old days). Eventually, nostalgia lost out to common sense and practicality, and I found a deal on a 2008 KFX and have been going through it and getting it race ready. Love the reverse and the EFI. Suspension is a bit stiff for woods/ hare scrambles for me, so have been tweaking on that trying to find the right balance to keep from getting beat to death every race. If anyone has any input on the best stock suspension set up for woods racing I'd be grateful to hear what you recommend for a 195 lb rider.
Anyway, great to be here and look forward to being part of the community.
