I have a 2009 Red KFX450r. I recently replaced the valve cover gasket and upon completion i noticed oil spewing from one of the cover bolts. Upon further inspection i noticed that a bolt stripped out and isnt hold as tight as needed, My question is can i drill and tap it or buy a new piece thats stripped?

Drill it and helacoil it. Just be careful and don't go to deep or wobble out the hole. Good luck.

Check to see for sure if it is the bolts or the threads in the cam cover.

I swear to you, I had this happen to me. I was turning the bolt in by hand, using the ratchet like a T handle and it just never got tight. I knew that the way I was doing it I surely could not have stripped the threads cause I had not even tightened it yet.

Took it all apart and the bolt was broken off like nothing. I took a flat blade screwdriver pressed down on the remaining bolt and backed it right out of the head like nothing.

So take it apart and check it.
