Hi guys, i'm new to the board and this new KFX really has got my attention. I'm a fairly new rider but i have an 05 Predator now. I am finding that it seems a little big for me (i'm only 5,6 and 160 lbs), i also find that it feels heavy so that's some reasons i was looking into this new KFX. Just wandering how these 2 compare? Has anyone ridden both? Any and all feedback is much appreciated. I mostly do trails but i do some jumping and track when i can.

I have not riden the KFX, But should be much better suited for a smaller rider. A have riden a predator, Im 5-10 and 200 ponds and they fit me well. The 450s are a little cramped for me.

I actually own both - the KFX is a lot lighter and more nimble - has fuel injection which is nice - it feels very stiff (of course it's brand new)
although it feels very comfortable

I think the pred feels like a lead weight compared to it - the pred feels stronger but softer if that makes any sense

I've not had them side by side since the pred is in the shop - should get her back in a couple of days then I can have them side by side and tell you more

I'm 6'0 - 185lbs

A lot of people knock Polaris. I agree their earlier bikes such as the Scrambler and Trailblazer weren't built to the other manufacturer's standards, but I thought they did well with the Pred. If you're comfortable on the KFX, get it. If you're more comfortable on your Pred, keep it. It's all up to your opinion and fit and feel. I'm sure the KFX will be all the bike the Pred was and more if you choose that route. Let us know what you decide!

I agree with the above. I owned an 06 le predator and with bolt ons I could smoke most 450s. Great all around bike and very comfortable. You cant say that about any 450, except for maybe the honda. My predator tore it up and I ran the living shit out of it and it still purrs like a kitten. Though I eventually went to the ltr I still miss my predator and would own another one no problem.

If the Predator had a KTM 525 I might say hell yeah. But the 500cc Fuji motor I say KFX.[/b]
yeah for sure......... but i still can't figure out why Polaris didn't go with a 450cc engine so it MIGHT be competitive in MX and be able to keep up in woods racing. plus I'm not a big fan of the whole Outlaw IRS deal anyway... i would rather have a swing arm, but thats my outlook on things.

I think Polaris was doing something with KTM but the relationship between them has fizzled. Polaris used to own 30% of the KTM shares now KTM has bought back just over 25% of that. I think KTM will still provide engines for the Outlaw but I'm not sure on what other ventures will transpire. The KTM 450 will be all KTM.

True the predator is no slouch! they have been a very solid machine. The only down fall is the engine is alittle heavier than the others. But still the engine has had less failures than most of the sport quads out. By the way great vid.

I am a parts manager at a polaris dealer and I could have got a predator for 2g's less then what I bought my kfx for and I could have even got the new outlaw ktm for over 1k less, but IMHO polaris lacks quality in almost every department and the services suck big time cause they put synthetic in straight off the floor so your stuck paying $8+ per qt. A arms=crap, swing arm=crap, plastics=crap, controls=crap, tranny=crap, and its a freaking tank and you feel every bit of it. If they didnt come stock with good shocks, tires, and steel braided lines everyone would realize how much of a pos these things are. To me it just doesnt seem like polaris does any where near the same R&D as ANY of the big four. I am 6' 235lbs and I havent had any problems with the kfx. Its not perfect but IMO its pretty much the best all around quad you can get if your just looking to do a little bit of everything.

I would hardly call them junk, there just in another class for more rec riding. You can ride a Polaris all day and not feel wiped out. You can't even come close to doing that on any 450. Plus the KFX450 isn't getting the greatest review from actuall riders instead of the mags. Many say the suspension stinks, power is the lowest of all 450's, a lot of bump steer, and a seat that is as hard as a rock with hard starting. So the KFX for what people are buying them for, doesn't sound like a great deal. In fact I've seen many dealers allready marking them down a lot as there not selling that great. And with many giving these allright reviews, not many are jumping on the band wagon to get one.
