Fox Suspension- Changes for my weight?

I'm purchasing a KFX from a pro level rider that is equipped with Fox Float fronts/Podium rear. All good things. The catch- he's a 160lb MX pro and I'm an old football player at 215lbs. I imagine I'll need at least a re-spring and maybe re-valve though I'll be riding trails, practice track play days, and maybe eventually 30+vet locally.

Suspension is not my area of expertise and I guess I'm trying to figure out what changes you think I'll need, where I'd have to send it, and a ballpark cost. I understand I can set up the fronts by simply running more air pressure. Any advice/experience would be helpful. I haven't ridden in a long time and I'm fired up to get back into it.

Well...pro level riders usually have everything REALLY stiff when compared to others as the put the suspension through its paces a lot more. So...I imagine it might not be as far off as you think.

That being said...the rear will have to be re-sprung and revalved. No question there. The Floats will just need air pressure changes most likely. See what both chambers are set at and let us know.

ya the fronts you can add air to your weight+gear weight then adjust ride height/compression/rebound to your liking!the rear you may be able to stiffin up enough to get by on 4 now then respring later!

the fronts are not "set" for any one weight as you can add air to adjust accordingly and you can propably get the rear re sprung for cheap at most shops or fox itself

Nick @ Jet Suspension would be a great guy to talk to if you need help w/suspension set-up. He's very knowledgable, and he'll also do any shock servicing/rebuilding that needs to be done.

Thanks, I have no idea who I'd use locally in Texas and if I have to ship it it doesn't really matter where they are located if they do good work on the Fox stuff. Appreciate the advice. My last race bikes were KX250 two strokes in aftermarket frames so that tells you how long I've been away from the sport.

You would be suprised at how soft Pro's run their suspension compared to other MX guys. Most of them are smooth and precise so they dont need the as much compression... IDK anything about trail riding suspension, but I know XC is way softer than MX so you may be ok. I would just ride it and see how it feels. Then come ask us lol
