Not trying to hijack the thread here...but how do you know when you need to replace the rear bearings?

You can inspect them and see if they're rolling good. If your axle is wobbly in there they for sure need to be changed.

My axle is wobbling. I noticed today when I took my tires off. Anyways I have to replace my bearings. What kit should I buy??? I am not trying to replace the carrier because of the cost.

So I got the axle nuts off, brake rotor off, caliber bracket off, hub off, but the axle will only slide about 1-2 inches to the left. It will not come all the way out of the carrier. I finally just ended up loosening up the carrier up and now I have the carrier and out but the axle is still inside it. How do I get the axle out of the carrier. I think mine is just stuck.

Ok I got it out with some beating. I used the the axle, carrier like a slide hammer and beat it out. The oven is now pre-heating.

That was my first thought as well. But it does sound like others have done it with no issues.

As long as you don't heat it red hot, it would not hurt the carrier, aluminum do not crystalize like steel do when heated i think. Or at least it depens what aluminum it is.
