Ahh... d@mn... I just had a serious look at it to try to make a plan of attack...

Wow that's a s#itty design for those of us that need to turn sharp and want to grind.

It has a single stop on the base... and instead of being to the front, it's on the left side.

So the stop on the stem itself for turning left is to the left front of the stem.
The stop on the stem for turning right is the left side of the tie rod mount.

You can see the stop on the base here in "Fuel's" pic.

I'm not sure there is enough removable meat there to make a difference, short of cutting it completely off and having no stop. But I may not have judged it that well at first glance.

This might be a better visual aid to illustrate what I am saying about the design...

Will I be able to get the bottom part off the stem itself without removing the whole stem totally off the quad? (#59266)

Cool... I was hoping I could take the screws out, lift it up a bit and take that part off the bottom of the stem.

Well... Mine was sort of stubborn... I had to enlist a helper.

I had no trouble with any of the fasteners... I had trouble getting the stem up high enough to slide the housing off the bottom.

The easier way would have been to unhook the tierods from the stem first thing.
I didn't though, so now I'm sorta screwed with my own sequence. So I dread trying to get it back on.

I had it put in a mill, and the stop was cut down equally on each side, leaving the stop a finished 3/8" thickness. I wanted to take more, but I don't think there would have been much point in leaving a stop at all if any more was cut.

whoops, haha i thought taking the tie rods off was common sense thing! haha but if ur putting it back on out the stem back into the bushing and put the castlelated nut on(u should have 3 castlelated nuts make , 2 the same size and 1 thats different, make sure u put the different one on the stem) then put the bushing back to the frame using the 2 alan bolts than reconnect ur tie rods and u should be good to go! let us know how it works for helping the turn radius and than u can write up on how much u took off and stuff

yeah changing that bearing is a bitch i learned later on ya gotta take the tie rods off to make it work!get some pics of that shit shaved down!did you also shave down any on the steering stem itself or just on the stop it looks like maybe youd have to do a little on both for a big change!
