Hey Nick. This might not be the answer that you're really looking for, but there are a few full kits for sale on Ebay that I saw that are less than $200. Did you call Kawi to see if you could just order the gear?

Idle (Spur) gear spins freely on the shaft to change direction of transferred motion usually....

The Kick starter for the KFX450R is the same as the KX450F (2006) (Bike)

With a different kick lever....

Compare your gear to the two in the picture (One a 30 tooth spur) the other is a (33 tooth spur) with inter-locking splines....

Yours is either one or the other i suspect it's the 33 tooth with inter-locking splines.

Compare parts in both pictures...Their the same...

So do you know the how many teeth are on the gears for the kfx450r. Because if it's one tooth different we can't tell from the pic. I'm just trying to get this straightened out. Not trying to say your wrong.
Thanks nick

I know the KFX450R Kick starter is the KX450F(Bikes) 2006 (Kick starters mechanism) with a shorter kick lever...

Others would purchase the KX 450 kick starter and put a Honda lever on it...

before they found that Kawi provided a Kicker for the KFX450R...

Can you Take the Broken gear to the shop and have them compare to the Gear from the KX450 (Bike)???

I'll Know a shop owner!! who can verify the Parts for you?
It will be Tuesday 31st to get an answer.

Can you wait????

Yeah I'm also going tueday to the shop, they have the gear there and I'm going to check into it. But I have bigger problems now, I keep breaking my stator case. I just had all new crank rod top end all bearing and seals through out the tranny and new main cases installed. I think the flywheel isn't on right or the crank bearings are bad or the crank is messed up. Its all new. I'm pulling it out this week and tearing it down. This has been a pain in my @$$ lately. Thanks for the help guys.

Question

Is your stator fly-wheel cracking where the Woodruff key is?

If the Woodruff Key isn't set right it will crack your Fly-wheel....
If it's new you might have to file it down a Little to clear the key-way (slot)
in your Fly-wheel....
