Howdy from NewMexico!

Howdy!
Old dirtbike rider, but totally new to quads here.

Bought it cause my fiance and freinds like to go riding in Kanab Ut, at the coral pink dunes.
Tried it with my xr650r, but it seems that quads rule there.
Plus i been thinking about gettin a quad anyways.
Tires seem kinda small though, not sure if theyre good 4 sand.
Are stock sizes better for dunes???
It seems awfully low geared with these tires too.
(or mebbe im just used to the 650r's gearing.)

New toy.......

Its an '08 and i paid 2500 fir it.
Not sure if thats a good deal, but seemed fair.

Any "bugs" to look out for on these bikes??

18-10.5-9's.

Kenda claw.....somethings. (?)

I either gotta regear it or get bigger meats.
I understand stock is 20-10-9.

Are front sprockets hard to change on these?
Rears dont look very bad. (sprokets)

It has 20-6-10's up front, would taller rear tires make it handle weird?

Pretty new to this quad-tire stuff.
Paddles wouldnt be good 4 me, as i do more trail riding than dunes.

But i thought a quad has GOT to be better in sand than a xr650r w 120-18 Desert IT's. Regardless of what tires on the 4 wheeler......

well first welcome to the site!

the front sprocket is hard to change, imo, i had to take it off with an air gun.

for desert riding honestly i think most guys ride 22-7-10's and 20-11-9 or 21's in the rear. then from what ive seen the imfamous razr 2 front and razr rear, is also tire of choice.

good luck with the bike though!

wel it depends what type of riding you do, i use 20-21 inch rear with 22 fronts for desert, and i use 18 rear and 20 front for mx, the tire size u have on is defintely for mx and the front sprocket isnt to bad u will most likely need and impact gun to get it off the first time, i have pc3, fci, tdc exhaust, and stg 2 hot cams and a 15 tooth front sprocket which is +1 tooth from stock, the difference between 20 inch rears and 18 is HUGE

Really? 2 inches makes that big a difference?
Rocky mountain atv has some dunlops in the stock size for like $39 each.
Mebbe i'll go for it.
Will leaving the 20 inchers on the front be bad or better to go w 21's at same time.
Mebbe i can sell the old tires to try to make up some of the $$$$.
(im kinda on a budget right now)
Or mebbe im just used to my xr650r's desert gearing too?......

few pics my gf took at Kanab.....
