Hey Yall, New to the HQ

Hello, im not much of a new aged computer type of guy but Im getting there. Forums are a new thing to me. Im into just about any type of riding, big into Ice racing! Build my own motors, run a small service and parts shop here in central MI, bought a dyno about a year ago. Im here looking to keep myself on the top shelf and keeping an eye on the market. There are so many new things in the market its hard to follow all of it, and of coarse always the best thing since sliced bread. I like to hear different reviews. Any time anyone has any questions I am glad to help share my knowledge (or lack of it) Thanks

Welcome.

So, a question about ice racing... Do you have any specific type of studs/tires you prefer, or have found work the best?

I'd like to get a set of Cheng Shin c826s, but they're sort of hard to find, especially in a 20" (I live in Canada, and don't want to lose more clearance by going with an 18"). I was also thinking about Kold Kutter studs (Would rather run the carbide tipped ones, but they're fuckin' expensive).

thanks for the welcome guys I really appreciate it. As for Slaytanic454, the tire that you refer to is probably the most common tire that people tend to use, I dont believe that I have seen them in a 20" so Im not sure if they are available. I am unsure why you are worried about clearance, we typically lower all of our machines to sit closer to the ice and of coarse we plow regularly. Just run the std cold cutter, you wont need the carbides they are mostly for tracks when wear is an issue. Use the tire that you are asking about, put 1-2 studs in each lug and you will have the results that you are looking for. When you get a little more advanced in ice tires, there is a art to putting in the studs.
