HELP!!!! Changing the Oil. Got Some Questions???

I will be doing the first oil change probly 2morro on our 08 kfx450. any and all pointers and tips will be appreciated. the questions that i have are:

1) do u need to change the o-rings on the filter cover? i understand there is 2 of them on there.
2) whats the deal with a grommet or something on the filter?
3) and do u need to have new gaskets on the 2 drain plugs?

this is just same info i gathered from reading the manual that i could use help from u guys. thanks in advance!!

The o-rings can be re-used. I'm still on my originals after over 2 years and change my oil every ride. For the drain bolts, you don't need to worry about gaskets; however, the small drain bolt strips EXTREMELY easy. Throw some red loc-tite on it when you put it back in and never take it out again...just SECURELY snug it. It doesn't drain enough extra oil to make a difference if you change it regularly.

x2 still on the original stuff change oil every 2 rides and only do the big plug . i use stock oil filters and k&n oil filters depending whats in stock . this machine breaks the oil down really quick so change it often .

I recently started using the Rottela also, (I use it in my diesel truck). Much less expensive and meets or exceeds all of Kawi's specs for oil.

i disagree with the only drain from the big plug! it is a sump area for oil although it does not hold a a lot of oil it is there for a reason. change the oil with this plug and it will! strip out, just heli coil it properly and you will have no problems with it afterwards. imagine all the shit that can build up in that sump if you don't drain from there! I have been in these engines and know a lot of shit comes from clutches and normal wear and tear. I clean my oil screens once a year and that little drain bolt leads to the sump for the oil feed screen and pump, a lot of shit can collect here if not drained properly. I've seen it.... it is engineered for reason. EVEN THO THE P.O.S STRIPS!!!
