Carburated kfx450

This is a discussion on Carburated kfx450 within the Important Information forums, part of the KFX450 Performance category; I've only heard of such a thing. If anyone knows of one, how is it and what is needed to do it?...

I dont no the advantages of it at all. A little less headache though. You need a carb, New tank insert, Stator and flywheel, wire harness. I think BCS sell's a carb kit it has everything and a kicker but i think they want 2grand

I'm not sure why anyone would want to convert to a carb due to how easy tunable the KFX450 is with just a simple fuel controller. However, I'm sure there is someone out there that will make a carburetor conversion kit if more people requested one.

I think fuel is building a bike with a carb, But he said the only reason was is that it is easier to tune with NOS.

I don't know that there's an advantage w/doing the conversion for every day riders or MXers, but for dead engine starts this kit would be wonderful! Back in the day of riding my KFX400 I was pulling hole-shots on 450's in GNCC's b/c you could pin the throttle before you even had it fired. Stupid FI delay. Why do you think Yokley isn't riding Kawi anymore!? He could never get the starts he needed so he never got the results he wanted.

Just be patient and everyone will be injected soon.

I'm sure someone will also find a way to by-pass the throttle thing too...

I am not liking the fuel injection so much so far either.
It's sooooo much more complicated for an off-road application.
But I do like the absence of any flat areas anywhere in the throttle range.

I myself am thinking maybe Suzuki just plain out did a better job or something.
The R450 is doing fine in pro GNCC... and Kawi has ZERO.

Haha. They're doing more than fine. Borich is starting to run away. I've been a huge fan since the days he was a privateer and I'm glad this season is looking promising for him! Hopefully his luck will stay good. Stick wish he wasn't on a Zuk this year tho! I'm a Honda guy at heart that just happens to currently ride this Kawi...I love it tho...other than the things here and there. This Kawi FI is going to have to find some good improvements and catch up soon b/c it's beyond frustrating for me at times...especially on starts...and I haven't even had the difficulties that so many have with it. Lol. Everyone will soon be FI, but it'll be a much better "car-like" set-up that auto adjusts itself like the PCV will do (MAF sensors and exhaust temp sensors are a must). I do like not having holes or flat spots in the range...and tuning is so much better than the old days of an hour to re-jet every time til you get it right...but improvements would be much welcomed.

Yeah, I agree...

I've been thinking I might move straight to a PC V next year when I start doing mods when the warranty is over.

Heck, I might even finally make a few races by next year too... LOL... I've been thinking of running a few GNCC's and a few Harescrambles. But as it stands now, I'm not even making XC trail rides with it... I'm on the Honda or Polaris for that and the KFX is riding the pine getting all the bugs worked out and waiting for replacement accessories that fit properly... lol...
