main fuse problems! HELP!

ok so two dune trips ago, my kfx450R just died, and not like it would die when it seizes up or anything, it actually seemed like when i let off the throttle it finally died... no power at all, fuel pump wouldnt run, no lights, nothing... anyways we took the bike apart and found the main fuse was blown, so we put the extra one in and started right up, lasted the rest of the weekend.

So initially i thought well maybe over time it just happens. well i went again last weekend and same thing, luckily i knew what to do and try and even though the fuse is in a much harder place to get to than that of the ltr450 and yfz450 i managed with no tools.

So my question is obviously there must be a short somewhere, but has any one else had this problem and if so, what causes this and what did you do to fix it?

thank you!

I see your riding dunes so ur proubly not in two much water, but I had the same problem with mine. But mine was when I got water in the headlight plugs and when I kicked my headlights on it would blow the fuse. So I dielectic greased everything really good and so far no more fuse problem. Iv also heard of the grounds giving people trouble too.

i had the same problem turns out 1st it was my front brake lever brake light switch for some reason that was grounding out bwhen i hit the brakes my fuse would blow!i replaced that and it was fine for a week or 2 then again i lost all power went to check the fuse and it was fine turns out my hole main fuse block was corroded and one terminal that holds the fuse was soooo loose i could take the fuse out w/1 finger!i replaced the whole thing 77bucks later and no you have to use pliers to remove the fuse and so far no more power loss!i also used dielectric grease in all my harnesses for extra protection as i ride in lots of water/wet spots!

mine done that a few times and found that my orange wire coming from my temp sensor ( i think ) the plug in the back of the motor under the throtle body was rubbing the frame where it come up to the wiring harness ( if your sitting on the quad it will be on your right ). This may help
