Turbos live on low compression. I'd say 12:1 would be too high for a true turbo setup, but dont know these smaller engines as well as cars....

In my personal opinion... And this is just my opinion and nothing more.... But turbos and 2000+ $ engine setups are a waste for most guys, unless you just have money to throw away of course....

Cams, FCI, PC3 or other fuel programmer, and a full exhaust will probably net you 50 hp, or really close, and all that would only cost about 1k give or take.

So... I cant really give you any insight on the turbo deal, other than what I know about cars. Turbos always make big power upgrades so long as the appropriate supporting mods are done. Lots of management work to run a good turbo setup.

i thot the same thing bout the 12:1 but i can't find a lower compresion piston for it but as i said be4 i'm trying to get to 60hp and i can't to that without goning into to motor( new 13.8 je piston and hotrod crank) having this done slong with the port and polish head web cams and +1 values would get me just where i wanted to be on hp 58 to 60. but it comes with a price of 2200 to 2400 bucks this is y I was looking into turbos i found a kit for 395 on ebay.

Have a look. The thing i'm not sure of is if i run the 8lbs of boost is if the stock rod will handle it. I no that it will put out the hp I want. Is just the thing that if i have to replace the rod I mite as well build it to run on motor and forget the turbo.

Yeah there is no sense in going with a better rod and not going with a better crank and bearings.

Hetrick racing may have some more high hp Kawi engines to get rid of. You may try and give them a call and see if your interested in spending the money.

ATV Riders Forum - 2009 kfx450r motor.

I bought some of the other parts Luke Nixon had up for sale here and all the deals were great. He is a Hetrick rider.

Hetrick ATV Racing | National Level ATV Racing

There number should be on there.

When I bought some of Lukes stuff I just called Hetrick and asked about the parts he had for sale.

I'd just call them and tell them what your lookin for and see what they say.

Really nice people and really easy to work with!

With 12.0:1 piston you'll will have to run 110 octane plus with 8 psi boost...

8 psi of boost added to your cylinder pressure will boost it to the equivalence of around 14.0:1 compression ratio...you'll will need a stronger rod and weld your crank pin to hold the alignment...and ceramic main bearings too...

You'll will need more boost than 8 psi to handle just the added weight of the turbo kit, wastegate and inter-cooler to the overall weight of your quad and rider....

Power to weight ratio...Less weight, More power = faster and quicker times....

Horsepower Design Equations Formulas Calculator - Power Weight Ratio

You'll should lower your piston ratio to around 9.5:1...

And you'll need to retard your ignition timing to around 30 degrees advance @ WOT...

Are you building for Drag racing or other application....????

Here's the best power to weight set up the 30~60 Nitrous shot...http://www.jokersracing.com/content-...os_bottle.html
