I don't know if I have any contact cleaner left though...
Since it's a sealed switch beside the activation pin...You'll also need compressed air to force the contact cleaner into the switch...Sorta like a electronic pressure "washer" And are you sure the connector grip their posts
good & snug....?
Actually, the switch is not sealed at all...
If you look on the switch below the contact pin... you can see right in the switch.
Now that I have it off I know for sure it is the switch... it's hit and miss on continuity when activated.
And if you wiggle the activation pin it will make contact.
I can't find my contact cleaner so I think I'll shoot some carb cleaner in there and call it good.
If it works then... I wonder if I should put a little sealant there over the opening?
You know, something I could peel off if it gives more trouble.

Whoa....!!!! Carb cleaner will melt/dissolve the plastic and cause more harm...I didn't realize that you could view the contacts and that it wasn't sealed...I was upside/down looking at it still on the quad....
Carb & brake cleaner will damage "Plastic" on contact ....I hope you read this before using them ....Stick with electric contact cleaner...

How about trying a dab of dielectric grease around the button part to at least slow down the intrusion of water?

my brake switch just quite this weekend also. it did the flickering part then just quite all together. might try to pull it apart and see if there is a way to fix it instead of taking it in for warranty and have the same problem down the road. i would think dielectrical grease would help it a lot

OK... I read the backs of my cans... and shot mine with a bit of brake parts cleaner...
Works perfect now.
I couldn't decide rather to go through with my idea to dab a little sealant over the holes that I could peel off later...
Couldn't decide rather it was a good idea or not...
I mean a little would still get in around the button....
Anyways, I think they screwed the pooch again on this part.
I can see how this would be the culprit for blown fuses...

The same thing had been happening to me for a while before the last mounting tab broke on my tail light and I had to take it off. Good to know it could be a simple fix. Maybe a bit of silicone in there after it's cleaned out and working again?

I was thinking about that or any sort of sealant that would peel off the openings in case it needed another cleaning shot.
I was just unsure of rather that would be a good idea or a bad one...
I mean some moisture and dust would still get in by the button...
I dunno...

Well uhh, without anything to seal it up, shit getting in there is basically guaranteed. I think a slight chance is better than a sure thing?

I was only really thinking of it in the context that now when stuff gets in there it has an outlet to drain out of now... and sealing that would reduce where stuff has to get in... but leaves zero exit for what does...
Know what I mean?
I think I am going to try sealing it off though...
I am going to wait and pick up a tube of black RTV or something instead of the blue crap I have.
