Dealer service?
I havent had my kawi very long (about 1.5 months), bought it brand new. the dealership i picked it up from had a first time service that would do to the kawi. How many have done this? i have already changed the oil in it once but the main thing they do is adjust the valves. I am asking if this is something i should do. I am worried about them messing something up because nothing is wrong with it, but having the valves adjusted is probably a good idea. Also i do have to pay for this service but that isnt my main concern. I am just not sure what i want to do. they say if i ever need warranty work that this would be good to have for records. how often do the valves need adjusted on these approx? thanks

on my kawi my valves got adjusted on the first service and they havnt came out of spec in over 2yrs but i still check. I did and paid for the first service because the dealership i bought from told me if i didnt that it would void my warranty cause they need to make sure it got broken in properly. Idk if its necessary or not as when i bought my quad it was my first and i had no idea about anything so i just did it cause they told me to!

I didn't take mine back to the dealership and it didn't void my warranty. They do mess stuff up, I hate dealerships. When I took mine back to get the bearing carrier replaced, before i took it back I washed it and cleaned it all nice. When i got it back, the swingarm was beat to hell from their tools, my tail light was broken off, my quad was so damn dirty like it had been raced ( had roost on the front end ), and alot of my bolts were loose ( had tightened them down before my first ride when i bought it ).
I never took it home when it was ready because when I seen what they had done, I called Kawasaki and they sent in a brand new swingarm and tail light. But this is probably just the dealership I took it to.

Most dealers are idiots. Look in the book. The first service of the valves is not til 1100 miles. Then every 2200. Buy the service manual and do it your self. Don't worry about warranty. It only lasts 6 months.

It is just new to you. Buy the service manual even if you have somebody else work on it. Well worth the knowledge.

Maybe it was a year. But I would never buy an extended warranty. The dealer only pays 200 for these. You end up paying much much more.

Check your valves your self and you will most likely find they are fine. There is no dealerships out there that I know of that know anything about these Kawi quads. Don't worry about the warranty, because if you need it you will probably have to get a lawyer. Trust me I speak from experiance.
Extended warranties are a huge rip offs. The dealerships sell them and don't give you all the paper work that they should, witch tells you basically they want pay for anything. It says if you alter the quad in anyway, ie: tires, grips, shocks, intake excetra. they will not cover your problems, even if the changes have nothing to do with the problem. They told me I had changed the bars and put nerf bars and suspension so that's why my tranny broke a gear. I guess i am stupid.

wow its crazy with the issues some people have, maybe i just had a bad ass service guy at the kawi dealer by my house, they replaced everything that broke even after being modded, usually i go to a race shop to get anything major done or looked at as he is the only person i trust with my bike. and i didnt pay for the waranty :P i told them i was only buying if they threw it in the deal
