That particular time it was in a couple weeks... and was crawled all over and checked completely. 4 honest solid days were put into seeking the problem.
Nothing was found and the tech finally got so frustrated with it, he put it all back together to get it out of his way to take a break from it and work on something else. When he did... it magically ran perfect.
It was assumed at the time that it must have just been a bad connection somewhere that got fixed during the unplugging/checking/plugging back.
Now many months later, what we have realized was... all that happened was the ECU got disconnected from power during the testing done through it's connector into the system. And that reset it if you will...
Since then, I have done it a couple of times myself, removing the battery to recharge it... and during my testing early last month.

I used to work as a tech at a Kawi Yama dealer here in Orlando. We had a customer that bought a USED V-max with a month left on its warranty and it was ragged out. He swore that it was jumping out of 3rd gear. I rebuilt the tranny twice finding nothing wrong ever. I had the techs at Yamaha tell me to take the bike out everyday and beat the snot out of it. Never found a problem. They refused to help the guy. He started picketing the dealership. The local news started asking questions. 2 days later I had to assemble a brand new V-max in front of him free of charge from Yamaha.
What I am trying to say Duster, is I believe you have a problem as do a lot of others on here. They are trying to wear you down. They will crack if pushed in the right direction.

Haha well, if anyone's capable of wearing THEM down around here, it's Duster. Very persistent dude, sometimes irritatingly so(No offense, lol).

Send me PM of the details of the deal....
It would also be nice if one day you would teach us how to convert to a carb.
I would rather have proper working fuel injection... but...
Well, it is stuff like this that makes me regret not getting that kick start Honda for $1,000 less.

I thought you would be interested in the latest riddle it spit out...
OK, Friday when I found out what I did, I went on down and into the shop. There I found my KFX still taking up one of their bays and the service manager out in the shop working on a bike.
He finished up and we started a joint round on mine. I found my bike sitting there with the negative cable disconnected. I asked about it, and he said they had been doing that to preserve the fresh charge so it would be ready for with Kawasaki called.
So I checked the battery and it was holding almost 13 volts and had been for a few days. We got into heavy discussion about amp draw testing methods... and some things are just easier to demonstrate than explain. So I started off first... AND WAS FLOORED BY WHAT I GOT... So I rechecked while he ran the switches for me.
I want you to know that I found it to have zero draw twice... How I did it was just connect inline to the disconnected negative and had nothing. He turned on the key and primed the fuel pump and we made note of it. Turn the key off and it dropped to zero immediately. We ran this senario twice in a row and got the same results.
We both laughed and just shook our heads... very strange.
Maybe I should have stayed hooked up a while and just monitored it?
Weird stuff.

I went ahead and got the thing out of the way for them until next week.
I left the battery unhooked and proceeded to deck it on out for the GNCC. Although I knew I couldn't give it a 100% run... I figured some fun going on with me and the KFX might do me some good.
Stayed up most of the night and got it all ready... except a fresh oil change. Saved that for morning so I could crank up and do a warm drain. Got up early to do the oil change... still had almost 13v... hooked up the negative... rode it around to warm it up... and got stopped in the front yard by the neighbor's son.
We chatted a little... just a few minutes. Then I went to crank it back up and move it on around for the oil change... hit key, kill, & button and it didn't do anything... I mean nothing... not even clicked.
I ran and got a meter, figuring I was going to find it dropped from 13v to 11v in just a few minutes. It had drained but was still above 12v.
I went all over it, figuring it had finally burned something completely up. Checked the relays, switches, cables, grounds, tether... everything.
Finally after keying it on/off several times the fuel pump finally kicked in and primed but it still wouldn't do anything.
Missed the race (sad & mad, but also glad) and saved some embarrassment.
After all was lost, I finally gave up and unplugged the power from the ECU a while. plugged it back up and and it fired right up like nothing ever happened.
Went to ride it, and twice I was given the mechanical scare of a lifetime.
What happened was, I went to roll into a corner... and when I let out of the gas, it locked up tight on me and slid the back tirres around. I just knew it had siezed. But luckily it hadn't. Fired right back up.
Went flying back up the side of the road to home. Let off the gas to make my diagonal cross of the pavement back into my lawn. Boom... did it again and locked the tires up on the pavement. It laid a nice black mark for the whole neighborhood to enjoy.
Rode it off and on after that and it never happened again.

Holy shit... This issue just went from a little annoying to pretty serious. Why do you figure it's losing power while you're riding it now? I'm assuming you hooked everything back up correctly?

Well... I've been bitching since day 2 about stalling... I just never had it stall going into a corner, just from letting off the gas. Usually I have to tap the brake or start back into the throttle for it to happen... and it only did it this way twice so far. Just yesterday.
For the battery issue I could just install a disconnect.
The running problems are what has me pissed off.
Now I think you can understand why I have not rode it a lot since I have 3 to choose from.
I'm glad it happened at home though. I would have hated to find that out the hard way with Borich on my back bumper you know? (getting ready to lap me of course)
And speaking of GNCC... it won't holeshot either off a dead engine start.
When it starts, you have to let it run a couple seconds before doing anything.
Else it does the same thing.
