my buddy is gonna get a quadzilla

my buddy is seriously looking for a quadzilla. He's already talking trash...he doesn't even have one yet. Has anyone ever seen one of these run? Are they really that insane? Does my KFX stand a chance in a straite run?

The "Zilla" will chew our KFX's up and spit them out in a straight drag. Then tell him you want to race in the woods and watch him bounce off every tree where the trail is slightly smaller than a monster truck. Then to finish off the competition, put them both on the track and see yer bud get the "do-do" kicked out of him by the dinasaur and it's antiquated suspension.

Banshees and Zillas were made for one purpose in my opinion. SAND !!!

If I lived near the dunes, I sure know I would have 1 of each.

Haha that reminds me of a story about my KFX and one friend i have who talked trash to me who has a quadzilla, sure in a drag he beat me, but on the track, on the first lap, he blew out his rear shock on the down hill double he tried to attempt, his plastic broke and fell off , then after the landing, his tranny went bye bye along with his bolts in his chain adjuster!

So when your friend gets his quadzilla, laugh at him, I would

No!

450cc 4 strokes were invented to compete with 250cc 2 strokes, and frankly it was a wash there.... hence they pushed the "production rule".

I'm telling you this as a previous owner of one when they were rolling off showroom floors.

Fastest production ATV ever built, still to this day. It was discontinued for it's power, speed and lawsuit rate. These things went the kind of speeds that the morons "think" theirs goes. I used to take mine anywhere I wanted to go (state roads) because it would outrun the county police anywhere, anyway, anytime.

Dude... it was a high performance, liquid cooled, reed valve 2-stroke + power valve, and it weighed under 400 lbs. You do the math!!!!

It had to... and I'm not exaggerating... had to run 80-85 mph easy bone stock when it came off the showroom. And it was geared something retarded, like 13/40 stock... low. So when someone says an LT500R will run 100 mph, they are not exaggerating like they are when they tell you their 450R will do 100.

A KFX with everything you can do to it will not keep up with a worn out LT500R in a straight run.

But I don't see why anyone should care. The Quadzilla was a real thrill in those days, but I preferred the 250's still in some places. Today, I still think I'd rather have my KFX, or any 450 or 250.

I tried to find a wiki report on the 500 last night because I remember someone saying that they would do 85 stock. I seem to remember where Dirt Wheels took a 500 and a Banshee to a dragstrip back in the early 90's and with some extensive work made them do over 100.

Yes... 80 or 85... and it did not take much to get 100+.
Pipe, filter, jetting, gear change.

Honestly, if I had the extra cash laying around I would buy one to build up. They are trick quads and having one to blow people out of the water would be fun . Yeah, I wasn't around when they came out, im only 19, but the way people talk about 2 strokes from "back in the day," it makes me want one.

To me, the old 2 strokes are still not "replaced" and probably never will be.

The power to weight, power to CC, power gain per mod dollar, ease of maintenance, simplicity, cost to rebuild.... it's all really hard to beat.

To me, the Quadzilla was HUGE and heavy in it's day. But in honesty, it's a little smaller and lighter than today's LTR 450.
