Everyone please chime in here

I would like all the members here to chime in and post a few pieces of information.

+ Model year of KFX

+ Rather or not you have experienced problems with battery discharge

+ If you have experienced the problem with battery discharge... What 'shut-down' sequence have you adopted... and what 'parked state' you have found yields a dead battery and what state solves the problem for you.

I have the issue and my shop has a theory.
But I need to collect enough sample info to see how it holds up.

I'll start out....

'08 model

I have had the problem and I have went to great lengths keeping notes in order to keep track of different 'states' of parking and what the results were over time.

Over time the only way I have found that never yields a dead battery is...

Come to a stop in a forward gear.
Shut off with key.
Leave thumb killswitch ON.
Leave in gear.

have had the problem due to leaving it IN gear.

Now I don't have any issues what so ever and it's parked like so:
Neutral
kill switch on
key off

Well there is one '08 that has never had a problem.

Thanks...

Any of the rest of you, regardless of model that have never had a problem, please do chime in too. It's very important to have all your input as well.

Wish I could find my notes and see if I tried that state since I also leave the kill switch on.

This is going great guys... I hope it keeps rolling like this.

'08, never had a single problem with the battery. I've left it outside for months without so much as cranking it over, with it getting as cold out as -30C (-22F), and it cranks no problem every time. (I killed it once by leaving the key on all night, but that was my own drunken fault. Incidentally, it push started fine on a stone cold dead battery)

From what I've heard, leaving it in gear seems so cause the problems, and switching everything to off and leaving it in neutral seemed to be the solution.

Yeah, I thought it was just a chitty battery there for a while.
But obviously it is not.

I do know if I put mine in neutral with everything off it will kill the battery though.

That is just mine though.... (so far).

How long does it take for the battery to die? I'm thinking the next time I go out camping, I'm going to park it on a decent hill (So I can bump start it in the morning if it dies), and leave it in gear overnight. See what happens.
