got my 450 2 weeks ago, broke it in properly, but i noticed the engine gave off a lot of heat, coolent level was correct, as was oil level, fan working properly rode it all day.yesterday we took it out rode for about 3 hours and it lost power and shut off.would not start againe.right before it shut off my buddy noticed it puffing white smoke out the exaust.as i was looking for a problem,i noticed coolent seeping from the head gasket, took it t the dealer and yup, blown head gasket! anyone else notice this problem??should i let them repair the head or should i ask for a new bike as this one must of had a problem from the factory.

I would demand at least a new engine, but preferably a new quad. Wait and see what the dealer says they are going to do, and if it is not sufficient in your opinion call Kawasaki customer service.

Thanks quadrookie, demanding a new engine or new bike never crossed my mind, but now that i think of it thats the least that they could do.I'm off to the dealer and i'll keep you posted.

No problem. I have never had to deal with a dealer on any quad I've had, but I work in the car business and I know that people have alot of success with this tactic in similar situations with new cars. Just remember, you just spent a small fortune on what they are claiming is the best thing on the market, and now all of a sudden they are tearing apart a brand new engine because of a quality issue. Yoau didnt pay 8000.00 bucks for a bike that has had the engine torn down before you have hardly even ridden it. You paid 8000.00 for a Brand New quad and that is what you expect to have. I would put it in those terms right to them. I would imagine they will work with you-I've always heard Kawi is good with customer service. Good luck!
