axle bearing replacement help needed
I got everything ready to replace except i hit a hard spot. The tube that goes between the bearing in the carrer I cant get off. I tried everything I can think of to get it off, heat, hammer. What is the trick? It's made to come right off, but mine is not.
Any ideas?

weird..
My seals and bearings were shot when I did mine and I didn't have that happen. That piece stayed in the carrier until I got the bearings out.
Don't know what else you could try. I think heat would be the way but you are not having much luck with that.
Has it moved at all since you started heating it?

Your problem w/using heat is that it's a steal collar, which is the same as your axle. Even though it should expand more b/c of it's shape, both of them have the same coefficient of thermal expansion and increase in size at basically the same rate as you're heating. You might just have to cut it off man.

I took it to kawasaki of statesboro and had my buddy press it off. what happend was when the bearings came apart it bent a lip around the tube which stopped it from coming off. I took a die grinder to the lip and not goes on and off freely. problem solved.
