i like the idea that ur trying to improve ur intake or build one, but lets face it man, u will need real showable number improvements. the major intake companies out there spend LOTS of money on R&D and flow bench test their stuff

Duster...I agree w/bjohnson. His box design might help you out! I was really impressed when I saw his work!

Honestly I would have rather just bought than fooled with this personally.
But if I had, I would have already rebuilt my motor several times.
The stock box with lid on has barely saved me several times.
And in the end, I will be extremely surprised if this setup don't tie FCI.
I say that only because it runs stronger than the Fuel ATV elimitator style setup.
And there never was that much difference between FCI and Fuel ATV anyways.
Changing to this filter with the 6" to 3" bellmouth velocity stack and shortening up on the length woke it up quite a bit.
How do you know that it runs stronger than the Fuel ATV set-up? Have you compared them back to back on the dyno? Also, I don't know what XC scenario you've been in that you woulda "rebuilt your motor several times" by now, but if you're in water that deep in an XC race you're most likely taking the wrong lines. I've seen some deep creek crossings this season, and my Fuel ATV intake w/box has gotten me through them all.

Thanks anyways, but I have already done a lot of fabbing on this latest box.
And I have already decided what changes I would consider making.
I would like to see what you came up with but couldn't find anything just now.

I didn't want to get a pissing match started here, and still don't.
So I am going to just say this to start with... to see if the point has got across...
Let's pretend I threw up some dyno sheets here that you accepted as showing this outperformed Fuel ATV. Now of course the curious person would want to find a visual explanation. So go back and look at my tube/filter setup pictures and tell me what you see that would explain that?
If you'll do that for me, then I will gladly discuss with you the sequence of events, what my experiences were, and show you backdated posts to support it.
What I am getting at here is that I will gladly discuss things with someone with an open mind, but I am not going to sit here in a pissing match with someone who refuses consider anything different.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Now as far as the box thing goes, I'm not going out and submarining my ride. But I do hit enough creek crossings and small mudholes, and do enough riding after a rain to to find all sorts of water and mud getting up in the back of the plastics and on top of the stock box, even in it... even with that mud guard thing laying in place. I guess I make too much of a splash.
Here's some pictures I just took to show you.... and of course things have been hosed off at this point as you can tell (but not all out washed).

Well, I want to put it on a dyno. I'd like to make a stock run, then a run with each mod I have... then a run with them all. But someone will have to donate a stock tube to make that happen because I have modded my stocker a great deal. And to be honest, it is going to take a strong effort on my part and a long drive to make it happen. It will be an aggravating all day affair since I live in BFE country and have no close dyno shops.

That's because it's not a K&N
And this badboy could serve as a bolt on for a drag car...
