It's been hot and I hate handling my camera like that...
No shots of anything on the bike yet... but here are some I took inside.

One when I was first working with this filter setup...
(had already shortened the silver boot connector)

And one taken today after all the shortening.
(the box wall will of course fit between the 2 flanges)

Looks a hell of alot cheaper than a boxed fic. Not everyone has $330 to drop on an intake, some people like to make and do things themselves.

Self satisfaction and project fun FTW

Good work Duster!

I just picked up a ltr tube I am going to look at doing something similar without a box

Cost is not the concern... never has been.

The fact is, no one builds an XC intake.

Honestly I would have rather just bought than fooled with this personally.
But if I had, I would have already rebuilt my motor several times.
The stock box with lid on has barely saved me several times.

And in the end, I will be extremely surprised if this setup don't tie FCI.
I say that only because it runs stronger than the Fuel ATV elimitator style setup.
And there never was that much difference between FCI and Fuel ATV anyways.

Changing to this filter with the 6" to 3" bellmouth velocity stack and shortening up on the length woke it up quite a bit.

And here is a pictorial visualization of why I think this bellmouth setup is going make for nicer intake performance than just clamping a filter to a pipe.

Very general example theory being...

1- Fuel ATV w/Dasa ring
2- FCI straight pipe entry (but is actually larger than Fuel ATV)
3- My setup, bellmouth 6" to 3"

Did some work on the new box tonight.

I don't have any of the "actual" hardware inside... but here was my first model for the first draft of the box for this filter... used this to get close enough to the shape so I could measure the alterations and build something. So this model wasn't a spot on fit, but got me close enough to get an actual pattern for fab work.

Now I didn't really want to taper it on the back like Fuel ATV.
I wanted it to look different.

On the one I am building I could have cut and shaped the bottom front and rear, or narrowed the box up to fit down in without plastic removal. But I didn't... and now that I have taken the plastics off and did fitting... I am pretty glad of it... It's so much easier to install with the plastics out of the way.

In hindsite though... I could have shortened the tallness of the box a lot. I didn't have to revert back to the previous "tall box" layouts. I could have actually used the "shorty" layout I did for the small foam filter....

The reason is because due to the final frontal angle of the box, the taper angle of the cone filter runs dead level perfect to the box bottom. So the box can be shortened up to run flush with the bottom of the rear plastics.

But I have already fabbed my sides and bottom... so mine will run deep, which I am OK with for myself. If somehow water were to infiltrate my box, it can stand near 2" deep without getting into the filter. So I may try a large one-way valve in the bottom!

Next time I get a chance I'll cut my hole, install my flanges and put the front on.

Also, my personal box is only going to be semi modular rather than full modular.
So I need to decide how I want the layout on the back and top of my box.
I don't know if I want both interchangeable between high flow and fully closed or not.

I figure that honestly one of my high flow XC panels will supply all the KFX can possibly draw in.
Haven't decided on rather to do just one or both....
