Yeah, I know what you are doing there.
Not trying to do the same thing... in fact I want to be drawing nothing over the top.
"Over the top" is where my big problem lies.

Just seeing yours reminded me of one of those first things I put together.
So I went back to it with what I have learned so far.
We'll see how it works out... working on 2 at the same time...

I figured the biggest problem is that it would be drawing the most nasty air possible in there in dry conditions.

Yeah, the options well be... UNI filter, AEM Dryflow, Amsoil dry, and the 8 ply S&B.

Customer service wise... I'm liking AEM, Amsoil and UNI...

But do have some belief in the 8 ply S&B.. and it's cheaper than the AEM or Amsoil.

phrozin...

I am working on something a bit different right now... and I have a question for you since you have messed with intake area....

What do you think of 12 square inches of intake area into the box?

Do you think that is enough... or not near enough?

I can increase it an additional 25 square inches but don't want to if I don't have to...

I'm not too far from finishing up the next version of the simple box style.

I think the bigger you can get it the better, mine is pretty big! as big as i could get it started at same size as the stocker was not that great as my filter was quite close to the sides of the box. as i said i built mine 6 times lol

its a bit of trial and error, here where i live a dyno cost $500 so we only go there when we think we have made good progress, got to tell you duster it was easy to build a new air box but bloody hard to build it that made good hp.

I did checked out the fci and wile i can see why it flows good it was not for me, I think your on the right track, you may haft to build it a few different ways untill your happy with it. i know its a real pain to test and tune it but you will get a good setup in the end keep up the good work

I got so exited about to build my own intake, so i ordered a ltr tube. Is the big diameter on the tube 76mm (3") og 88,9mm (3,5") like the original. I am going to look for parts to make my intake tomorrow
