kfx 450 coil
I seems to have burnt my coil out somehow, wondering if I should replace with factory Ignition coil or Dynatek Ignition Coil, any info would be great. Is it common for the factory coil to burn out or should I be looking for another problem that caused it to burn out?

factory coil
I have had my KFX since may of 07 and i have not heard of anyone burning up a coil. That does not mean it hasn't happened, just I havent heard of any problems. Whenever you break a factory part, the best thing is to upgrade. It just makes good sence to get the dynatek coil. it is said it will bump your HP by 2HP. thats pretty good for $110

My advice is get the dynatek coil, and add a pro com magic power box. When I added both to my quad, it hit the rev limiter easier and seemed to start better. My quad also had a problem with being inconsistent on the dyno, for example my max hp being 48, with one pull on the dyno it would do maybe a 46, then 46, then a 48. I think the reason for it being inconsistent is due to voltage not being stable, and guess what, the throttle position sensor works off voltage(or so I was told). The magic power box is suppose to keep the voltage stable. Conclusion, when both off these were added a 48 was pulled every time(at least on that dyno session)

Yes, but it is not a rev box though. It just connects to the positive and negative posts on your battery and that is all that is required. Very easy to put on!!!!

This must act as a capacitor basically holding the extra charge rather then just the battery... Maybe something in the future. Hopefully this coil fixes my issue and that the last I see of it. I'll keep it posted.

I'm sure the coil will work out for you, I think you might have just had a lemon, like you said. I've heard that the stock coil is pretty weak. Be sure and keep us informed when you get it installed.

So its been a while before I had time to do anything to the bike but after I put the new coil on to it it fired right up. Glad to see it was only the coil, I also put dielectric greased all connections and did find one corroded up next to steering column that has a cap over it “red” with a fuse.
