Yeah... you have a bad ECU dude.

You don't go through 5 AGM batteries in 2 years.

And batteries don't just drain overnight for no reason with everything off.

The system is damaging the batteries and also draining them down beyond charging.

Your battery chargers are doing what they do because the battery is damaged. What happens is that your charger lays charging voltage on it and the battery voltage goes right up because there is no resistance to charge. Then the automatic charger kicks off or kicks into float mode.

You are getting 34% or whatever at Autozone because the damage is now that it won't HOLD A CHARGE.

Trust what I am saying to you... go get a multimeter... Walmart is open 24/7 and they have good ones for $20 and $25.

Check your battery voltage with it... Then turn the charger loose on it and check again. It will jump from 10-11v right to 13v and the charger will flip right off... then unhook the charger and check it again... you'll be able to stand right there and watch it trickle right back down to where it was before in a hurry.

If I'm wrong I'll kiss your ass.
Not for nothing would I tell anyone anything unless I believed it to be the truth.

After 5 stock batteries I would think it's time for a different battery manufacturer, even if it comes out of pocket. Or, you could continue to opt for another free piece of crap and miss rides when it craps out again. Maybe sell the new replacement and buy a good one.

Ya. I don't get how so many guys have issues w/this. Kinda like Duster's drain/ECU issues. I'm still on my original 08 (technically 07) battery. I keep it on the tender between all rides though...they put the connection there from the factory for a reason.

I'm still on my stock battery from April of 07 as well. Never use a tender and turn it off in gear and in neutral. No problems yet...

I am still on my original battery and I never use a tender or anything. I park in gear sometime and sometime in neutral. The factory batteries are good batteries. You have a battery drain problem that is killing the battery over and over again. Draining a cranking battery over and over again will kill it. We are just trying to help you out. This is a common KFX 450r problem. When you get your new battery hook it up and see how much current your ATV is drawing with the key off. I bet it will be too much.

Both are great brands of batteries... stick with them.

I wish you good luck on all this. Mine has been sitting in the shop for over 2 weeks now. We have been in a stalemate with Kawasaki and they have been trying to weasel out or prove us wrong for over 2 weeks now.

They need to just give up and honor the warranty.
I have a race to run this weekend.

What I find sorta funny about this is that this will be battery number 5 at over $100 each... verses the parts cost to actually fix it in the first place.

What I believe the deal is that Yusa stands behind their product well, and Kawi probably has a very good service contract with them. So it's no sweat for Kawi no matter what number of batteries you need.

Then on the other hand I believe it's the exact opposite with the contract with Mitsubishi for the ECU. I think Kawi has to buy every one they replace.

So I do not think they want to admit they have a real problem here. Yusa would be very unhappy and back out here if they found out this was the reason they replaced so many... and probably also the reason they "revamped" the model. I don't think Kawasaki wants to deal with that... and also another recall on this model.

well my kawi deal is a bunch of FKIN LIARS! and i told them to get fked! haha so they call me adn say nothing is wrong with the bike there is 0 draw when u turn the key off,(thought the ecu draws some ) but they say no there is 0 draw, he said that when u have the hids on and the fan turns on it is drawing more than the charging system cna replace it, which is BULL cause it was doing this BS before i put HIDS on it! anyways battery isnt covered under extended warranty only base warranty so basically i got stuck buying a new battery but i went to a dif place to get battery cuz i aint giving kawi dealer jack shit, and then they try to charge me for diagnostics, i said ummm everytime i have been up here it is free diagnostics, so i told them to fk off on that to and i didnt pay them a dime, i said i would pay if u told me i would get charged but its been free the last 4 times ive been up there so why do i get charged now? Also he said there is no record of me ever getting new batteries, i said well then ya guys gave me new ones for free and didnt keep record of it
