For those running the stock intake.

I had seen a while back where someone had modified the stock intake. They said they used a heat gun, and heated up the flattened section of the intake, then they pushed that flattened section out. It looked pretty good from what I can remember, and it would save a lot of money for someone not really interested in a aftermarket intake. The only bad thing is, if you did modify it like this then you might need to get the pc3. Even though you could gain some performance from this, I still highly recommend a fuel customs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've never seen anyone do that. If you stretch that tube under heat though you're going to cause weak spots and most likely tiny holes. Unless you wrap it w/a composite afterward or seal it some other way I wouldn't recommend it. Also, then you have to deal w/clearance on the shock, as this tube takes an angle such that it has to be bent the way it is to clear the shock at all times (shock angle changes).

what about trimming the flat part out of there?
it is not indented on the outside so one should be able to cut the spot out of there?
Strength? there should be minimal movement and there are rubber mounting points .?

Thats true you could mess it up, but Im sure you could pick a stock intake up off ebay for pretty cheap, if you were worried about it. If you use a heat gun though you would have to be carefull when you pushed the flattened spot out indeed. What have you got to lose if you mess it up, maybe $20 from one used off ebay. Its worth as shot to try it.

As far as the shock clearance, I would think a person could somehow take the mounts lose from the air box and maybe tilt the box somehow to one side to clear the shock. I dont know if it would work, but its worth trying if someone was interested.

Its a good idea, but everything about the stock intake is rediculously restrictive...diameter, angles, and shape. I really dont see how it even flows enough for it to be as fast as it is. they should have done like KTM and made the atv filter like the bike filter.

I saw the same post so dragged out the heat gun removed the backfire screen at the same time and wow what a massive change in performance it was so noticable that I rushed indoors fired up the laptop and ordered a fuel customs from over your side of the pond LOL. seriously though it did have a very slight gain in power at the upper rev range, cant wait for my FCI to arrive to see if is worth the massive amount of money its costing to get the thing posted to the UK

There is no doubt that you will be impressed with the Fuel Customs. Its ,in my opinion, the best setup
