cooling fan

i just picked up my new kfx on friday, took it out for about 2 hours on saturday, and the fan never came on once. this is my first liquid cooled bike. the temp here is about 60 degrees. is this normal? what engine temp does the fan kick on at? thanks in advance.

The fans in these things like to run almost constantly, I would say that's far from normal. They are also notorious for blowing the fan fuse all the time. Take the hood off, and you'll see two little orange fuse holders, mounted on posts. The fan fuse is the one on the right (I think). It'll have a red 10 amp mini fuse in it, along with a spare (Kawi was thinkin' on that one). Check 'em both, but make sure neither is blown. The other 10 amp fuse is for the fuel pump I believe.

If you were going easy on the engine and riding fast (MPH), it won't come on. If you were riding slow or really getting on the gas, it will get hot and come on.

thanks for the replys.... i guess i was just babyin it to much on sat... i took it to some hills today and it kicked on.... guess it just needs to warm up a bit lol

i took mine out first day trails to break it in...didn't kick on till we came to a stand still....the other day blasting trails climbing hills and such...we topped a hill sat on top to come down the other said when i got to the bottom it kicked on...only time i believe all day it kicked on....it was around 48 degrees.

Hah and, if you cake the radiator in mud, it will run a lot more. Found that out last weekend

Ya i have had my kfx for about 6 months now and I think the fan has come on maybe twice.
