You guys with the dirt in your intakes may have a problem with any intake you put on. Not trying to put you down but maybe you aren't oiling you filter correctly. I haven't had a speck of dust in my intake. This is a different subject that why the aftermarket intakes are better.

I like to spray the filter with oil and then put in into a gallon zip lock bag and really work it into the filter. The bag makes the job a lot less messy. Then before I put the filter on, I spray the end where the filter meets the box with plenty of oil to help it seal.

Like I said so far never had any dirt in the intake. I ride in Southern California where it can be very dusty also.

It wasn't coming through the filter it was coming in around where it pushed up against the air box, and I was using K&N sealing grease, it would get bunched up at the botton when you put it on and there is no way to make sure it sealed all the way cause you can feel or see under the filter.

The filter was sealed at the base with some goop and the base of the filter had no traces of dirt when I took it off, just everywhere else. The area where I was riding had dirt just like baby powder it was so fine so I'm guessing it was just too much for the stock filter. Other rides in dusty areas I've never had a problem and that cone has always looked like brand new.

I have now a k&n air filter, well in the filter had a rod in it that prohibited me from really ratcheting down on the filter to make sure it sealed against the airbox. I had to break that rod off of the filter and now it seals great, i wonder if i just had a messed up filter or are they all like that. I could literally move the filter around. I have a fuel atv intake that will be here monday i got for 200 shipped, but instead of black powdercoat that most of them come with mine will be brushed aluminum and polished before installation. I hope to feel some gains!

After taking off my intake this week to install FCI i noticed the same problem. The front of the box was a gap like the epoxy was not glued corectly. I as well got some dirt in after my top end rebuild and intake fix at the shop. I stopped by the dealer to have a look at their new KFX and 2 of the 3 sitting on the lot had the same problem. The maintenance stupidvisor told me it was normal. I called him an idiot! All i can say is get your intake replaced ASAP. Should be the first mod done and Kawasaki should change their shitty design.
