i take a ride sometimes in this qurrey bye my house and they have this stone dust stuff they mix with modified and it gets every where except in the tube are u sure it was on all the way and tight

Haha the reason I didn't keep the stock intake is also in that picture, but it has nothing to do with the dirt. LOOK at the damn thing. I laughed out loud the first time I took it off. 90 degree corners, narrow rectangular slots, and small holes aren't much good for airflow.

(And does anyone know what the little deal is on top of the intake tube? Hoseclamped on, doesn't seem to serve a purpose?)

its what the call a intake muffler...quiets the intake noise and helps smooth pressure pulses

Seems like it would just create additional flow turbulence... As if there wasn't enough already.
