mods/dyno
Hello everyone, I dropped my 450 off at the shop today to have a 13.4 wiseco and stage 2 hotcams installed and have it dyno tuned. I've got the big 3 now, i'll post my before and after numbers when i pick it up (1-2 weeks)FYI.

8.5 horsepower gain
Alright, I was somewhat disappointed with the peak numbers but am happy with the gains. My base pull with the big three only read 35.9 hp. After the cams and 13.4:1 wiseco i ended up at 44.51 hp. I think his dyno reads lower than some but he's got the a/f mixture dead on. It pulls way harder than before and is very snappy.

That's a freaking 24% gain dude. Haha 8HP doesn't seem like a lot, but on a motor that only started at 36 HP, 8HP is HUGE.
Every dyno will read different, based on a lot of factors. It's all relative, your stock KFX put out the same power as everyone else's, it doesn't matter what the dyno numbers themselves are. What matters is the difference between stock and modified on the same dyno. Based on that, I'd say you're doing alright .

FCI dyno'd my quad with the "BIG 3" and KX cams at 44+ HP. I think your guys dyno might be reading a bit low concidering bone stock the KFX 450 is suposed to be around 38 HP. But HP numbers don't really mean too much. It's the gains (almost 9 HP in your case), and the a/f that count. Picking up 9 HP is a pretty significant gain.

He dyno'd it with the stock knobbies and 93 octane. I think i'm going to mix 1 part 110 with 3 parts 93 and see what happens. He has dyno'd other kfx's with the big three and his numbers seem lower than most (right in line with my base run). I had him put my bolt on vforce on the dyno and it only pulled 32.48 hp!!!

I have run 91 octane with a 13.8:1 piston, but I am at a much higher elevation. Every dyno is different, though. The main thing is the gain and maximizing your setup. A load bearing dyno will read lower than an intertia dyno. My setup is a fairly well built motor and on the dyno it put down 46 hp. A stock machine on their dyno puts down around 35, so all and all the mods have givin me a 30% increase in peak hp.

It is all about cylinder pressure. We are around 4500-5000 foot above sea level. The dunes we go to can be up to 8000 feet.
