According to the 2008 Service manual on the KFX 450, the stock horsepower and torque reads directly as follows:

Maximum Horsepower - 31.9 kW (43 PS) @7 500 r/min (rpm), (US)
Maximum Torque - 41.9 N·m (4.3 kgf·m, 31 ft·lb) @7 000 r/min (rpm)[/b]

So the manual says the KFX 450 has 43 HP and 31 ft-lbs stock. I know these numbers are taken under perfect conditions and are somewhat liberal, however, for anyone who argues that stock horsepower is in the mid to low 30's is full of s***. Just wanted to post the truth about our quads.

Those figures are probably taken from the crank. Not the wheels.

Yep, you can figure around a 20% loss getting that engine power to the wheels.

43 Stock Engine HP * 80% == 34.4 HP at the rear wheels.
