Skid plates
I want a stong skid plate at least for the rear for now. I got a UM from Rocky mountain because it was the thickest one out there at that time. Three days in Mojave and it was absolutely destroyed, way beyond fixing. I built one out of steel but it is very heavy, but very very strong. has anyone found a good one out there.

Pro Armor. PROARMOR.COM – ATV AND MOTORCYCLE ACCESSORIES – THINK IT. MAKE IT. RACE IT.
Or PRM, but I'd go with Pro Armor first http://www.prm-********/MN.asp?pg=pr...=1557&from=112
Edit: What the hell, it won't let me link to prm-atv .com... That's messed up, lol trying to prevent linking to other ATV sites??

We have Pro Armor skid plates in stock and ready to ship for the KFX450.
I like the Pro Armor because it tucks up under the rotor and the sprocket giving you the most ground clearance possible.

I've always run Pro-Armor stuff. There's been some questions on here lately as to their quality and attention to detail, but I haven't really seen issues. My swingarm skid did get a little bent on sprocket side the other day...but I smoked a huge rock at full throttle pinned in 5th. Bent it right back and it's good as new. If it can stand up to that...I think it's good.

I have the Pro Armor rear skid too...
I bought it for 2 reasons... 1 was the rest of my stuff was going to be Pro Armor and I did not want to run into a mix-match issue where the plates meet... 2 was because I was not sure rather or not I would need to run an aftermarket rear link at the time I ordered.
It's thick, mounted up fine, and already has a chain slider and has wrap around the rear protection... all pluses...
However.....
The ground clearance is TERRIBLE.
The whole skid is lowered... I think to recess the bolts...
It drops down really low under the sprocket and disc.
But you could bend it without contact I guess.
The wrap-around protection in the back acts like a shovel when you high-center and have to pull it back. Good and bad there.
The skid is NOT full coverage like PRM. So it is not in the way of the link. But I don't need one. So I just have no protection for my link and the rest of my swing arm. Actually the part that is worrying me now is what this is going to be like when I'm doing log crossings... I'm afraid the front edge of the chain slider and skid are going to be log spikes and hang me up. Hope not.
This is a view of the top of the skid...

And this is the rear view of the good wrap around protection... which can also be a shovel.

On the other hand, here is the PRM skid, which is very much like what I have on my 400EX.
Same thickness, full coverage, no potential snag points, and no shovel points, but also less wrap around coverage.

These two little band things at the rear of the belly skid is what scared me away from getting all PRM stuff again for this quad.
