I run a PRM bumper and grab bar and love them...but I don't think I'd ever run their skids. Even tho they're the same thickness...they look incredibly cheap and make me feel like they'd crack and bend to pieces the first time the bounced off a rock of log.

I assure you they are not...

I've beat the hell out of the ones on my 400EX and they are still perfect.
I went with the thickest offerings for each part.

Their bumpers are also very obviously stronger than Pro Armor stuff.

Good to know. So you went w/the .250 swingarm from then on your 400ex I'm guessing?

Yeah, I sure did... and the T.M. Designworks chain slider too.

I really like it... except my 400EX is in need of an aftermarket rear linkage... which I don't think will work without modding my skid in that area.

How much clearance is there on that linkage...if you know? I was thinkin bout goin w/an XC link and I don't know if that'd work out of not...I'm stickin w/my Pro Armor for now...but for future reference it'd be good to know.

PRM usually sets up for max clearance underneath for stock quads, which means tight clearance on the parts. I know my sprocket and disc have minimal clearance above the skid for maximum clearance below.

For what it is worth, I've been told the stock KFX link is the best right now.

On my KFX I am running a lot of race sag, and I'm hoping that slowing my rebound down and getting the compression a bit softer will get me where I need to be with no bucking.

The 400EX bucks like a bronco out back, and the range of adjustments does not yield near the change that the KFX shocks do. I just set my preload down to 3 threads showing over the lock ring, set the compression almost full soft, and set the rebound almost full slow. I'm going to take it for a run tomorrow to see how that pans out.

It will probably need an XC link and the shock revalved and resprung... due to the steep angle it has at the swingarm.
I'm just hoping to get it more under control for now... because I am thinking I will just be selling it.

I bought it for 2 reasons... 1 was the rest of my stuff was going to be Pro Armor and I did not want to run into a mix-match issue where the plates meet... 2 was because I was not sure rather or not I would need to run an aftermarket rear link at the time I ordered.

It's thick, mounted up fine, and already has a chain slider and has wrap around the rear protection... all pluses...

However.....

The ground clearance is TERRIBLE.
The whole skid is lowered... I think to recess the bolts...
It drops down really low under the sprocket and disc.
But you could bend it without contact I guess.

The wrap-around protection in the back acts like a shovel when you high-center and have to pull it back. Good and bad there.

The skid is NOT full coverage like PRM. So it is not in the way of the link. But I don't need one. So I just have no protection for my link and the rest of my swing arm. Actually the part that is worrying me now is what this is going to be like when I'm doing log crossings... I'm afraid the front edge of the chain slider and skid are going to be log spikes and hang me up. Hope not.

This is a view of the top of the skid...
I have to agree the PRM is nice. I had one on my YFZ450, but it wouldn't work with my +1 LSR swinger due to the linkage guard. The RPM and the Pro Armor on my bike had the same clearances. However, the DG I had before the Pro Armor and the PRM was the worse skid plate I ever owned. The DG took away 1 1/2 of ground clearance. I hated going through the woods with the DG.
